battelle - ExecutiveMosaicBattelle has introduced a safety device for manufacturing and industrial facility operators to monitor hazardous airborne chemicals in the workplace.

AirAlert is built to help occupational hygienists identify phosphorus and sulfur concentrations as well as detect chemical warfare agents such as nerve gas, sarin and sulfur mustard, Battelle said Wednesday.

Dan Taylor, general manager for Battelle’s demilitarization business unit, said the AirAlert detector is derived from a Battelle technology used by military customers during chemical weapons cleanup.

The device works to collect multi-substance data in real time and is designed to help users gather data from several devices in a single computer, according to Battelle.

Battelle designed AirAlert to find hazardous chemicals within 15-minute exposure parameters and alert users within 10 minutes or less.
