Battelle has moved forward with its plan to deliver 10 Gigabits of data connection by petitioning the Federal Communications Commission to consider new wireless technology rules.
The fresh data stream technology is intended to combine the speed of fiber optic cable with traditional wireless system in order to support spectrum beyond 100 Gigahertz for public and commercial applications, Battelle said Monday.
The FCC is seeking public comment on Battelle’s petition.
Philip Schofield, manager sensors and communication at Battelle, said the company aims for technology to meet the demands for wireless service and data stream delivery of 10G and above.
Battelle is proposing new service rules for bands between 102 and 109.5 GHz for fixed and mobile communications applications.
