Autodesk has been awarded a contract to provide building information modeling services for Qatar Rail’s work to construct an integrated railway network in the Middle Eastern country.
The company will advise Qatar Rail on implementing BIM technologies and practices and help to train Qatar Rail’s staff for the railway project over the next three years, Autodesk said Thursday.
Callan Carpenter, vice president of global services at Autodesk, said the company intends to help Qatar Rail meet its targets for the project’s design phase, construction, commissioning and operations.
Autodesk will also lay the foundation of BIM implementations for the railway project ahead of future contracts.
“Adopting modern BIM technology in public infrastructure projects will help reduce conflicts and changes in plans, improve project quality and ensure better predictability of project outcomes,†said Louay Dahmash, head of Autodesk Middle East.
