A UnitedHealthcare electronic bill-payment service has processed more than $20 million in medical payments to more than 20,000 providers to date.
UHC’s myClaims Manager platform is built with an InstaMed technology to help plan participants across the U.S. manage their medical claims and help member organizations receive healthcare-related payments, United Healthcare said Monday.
“By enabling consumers to more easily monitor, manage and understand their health care expenses, people can take charge of their health, make more informed decisions regarding their care, and more easily interact with health care providers,” said Yasmine Winkler, UHC chief marketing and product officer.
The online tool is intended to help customers track medical expenses for tax reporting and monitor the status of their out-of-pocket spending and deductibles, according to the company.
UHC launched a mobile application to help users access personalized health information and a cost estimating tool designed to compare the costs of medical services.
The company also offers an online shopping service for patients to schedule appointments with clinicians.
