Science Applications International Corp.’s certification as a technology provider to the government and critical infrastructure under the Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act of 2002 has been renewed by the Department of Homeland Security.
Nazzic Keene, SAIC sector president, said Wednesday the SAFETY Act Security System Integration Services certification is for the company’s surveillance technology.
The technology delivers situational awareness by detecting terrorist threats via land and water in infrastructure such as harbors and freeways, then develops and integrates a security system into the network, SAIC said.
The integrated security system can also include video surveillance, intrusion detection, power subsystems and other capabilities.
According to SAIC, the SAFETY Act allows it and other anti-terrorism technology providers to commercialize such technologies.
