Red Hat and Hortonworks have collaborated to develop a big data analytics product that is intended to combine Apache Hadoop with open hybrid cloud technology.
The companies plan to provide more information on the alliance during a joint press conference webcast on Tuesday, Red Hat and Hortonworks said Monday.
“Data – specifically data running processed with Hadoop – is the killer application for the open hybrid cloud. Enterprises are looking to IT solution providers to help with a dramatic reduction in time-to-results for their big data projects,†said Ranga Rangachari, vice president and general manager for storage and big data at Red Hat.
Shaun Connolly, vice president for corporate strategy at Hortonworks, said the companies intend to further develop data applications for changing customer requirements.
New initiatives in the Red Hat-Hortonworks alliance include technology integrations such as:
- Hortonworks Data Platform with Red Hat Storage beta for a multi-interface open source repository
- HDP with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and OpenJDK for application development
- HDP with Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform for cloud deployment of an elastic Hadoop
- HDP with Red Hat JBoss Data Virtualization for data integration with on-demand availability
