Textron subsidiary Bell Helicopter has won a contract to supply the New York Police Department four twin-engine aircraft for use in law enforcement activities over the city.
Bell expects to complete the delivery of its 429 helicopters to the NYPD by next year, Textron said Friday.
The NYPD has used Bell helicopters since 1948 to perform search-and-rescue, intelligence and counterterrorism tasks.
Danny Maldonado, Bell executive vice president of sales and marketing, said the company is honored to be chosen again to supply helicopters to the NYPD.
Bell 429s are designed with a navigation platform and an instrument flight rules system and are built to accommodate up to seven passengers and the flight crew.
