TeleCommunication Systems Inc. has been awarded a $6.8 million contract to develop maritime satellite systems for the U.S. Army.
TCS will supply Digisat International-manufactured Intellian antenna subsystems to the Army for automatic switchover during disruptions, the company said Wednesday.
Michael Bristol, TCS government services group president, said the company intends for those systems to help fulfill the Army’s maritime requirements.
The Army plans to use the technology on watercraft systems to facilitate communications into vessels that navigate through commercial routes and U.S. naval operation areas.
TCS was awarded the contract under the Global Tactical Advanced Communication Systems and Services vehicle, which is worth up to $10 billion over five years to all awardees.
