Mary Ann Hopkins, Parsons EMParsons worked with UXB International and Dynasafe International under a U.S. government program to help secure then destroy chemical weapons in Libya, as a prime contractor in the Cooperative Threat Reduction Integrating Contract II.

The Nunn-Lugar CTR Program was funded by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency and tasked Parsons with securing the weapons storage facility and destruction area, Parsons said Tuesday.

Mary Ann Hopkins, a Parsons group president, said the company and its partners sought to help Libya fulfill its responsibilities to the Chemical Weapons Convention.

Team members worked to eliminate 1.6 metric tons of weaponized sulphur mustard reported by Libya in 2012 to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, which is responsible for verifying the project’s completion.

“It is a top priority of Parsons to support the CTR Program’s mission to make the world safer by reducing the threat of weapons of mass destruction,” she added.

Parsons, the project’s prime contractor also provided technical support to UXB and Dynasafe.
