Lockheed Martin and AeroVironment have signed a global partnership agreement to jointly explore technologies such as atmospheric satellite systems for drones.
The companies aim to integrate Lockheed’s mission and ground aircraft platforms with AeroVironment’s unmanned aerial system Global Observer, AeroVironment said Thursday.
“We look forward to partnering with AeroVironment to potentially develop integrated solutions for the unmanned systems market,†said Paul Lemmo, Lockheed senior vice president of corporate strategy and business development.
“Numerous customers are seeking persistent solutions for wide area applications, such as border surveillance and communications,” said Roy Minson, AeroVironment senior vice president and general manager for its UAS business.
Lockheed and AeroVironment unveiled their UAS development alliance at the 2014 Defense Expo in New Delhi, India.
