leidos_purpleLeidos will deploy additional meters for United Power’s metering infrastructure work under the second phase of a 10-year contract.

Leidos started implementing 20,000 meters for the Colorado-based electric cooperative in October 2013 and intends to complete the second phase by September 2014, the company said Wednesday.

James Baxter, senior vice president for energy services at Leidos, said United Power has been using Leidos’ smart grid service to upgrade systems.

The hardware and software service offering features outage alerts, remote disconnect and connect systems, usage time, net metering and analytic technologies.

United Power serves nearly 70,000 customers across the northern Colorado Front Range.
