Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has unveiled a command and control system that is intended for use in small satellite operations.
The quantumCMD off-the-shelf technology is built to help users develop dashboards and a common operational picture across satellites, Kratos said Tuesday.
QuantumCMD is also designed with telemetry, tracking and command tools, as well as HTML5 web server and browser-based access from multiple operational environments.
Tyvak Nano-Satellite Systems has purchased the technology for two nano-satellites that NASA will launch for a proximity operations demonstration mission.
Kratos said small satellite missions can cost between $1 million and $2 million each compared to traditional missions that require between $300 million to $1 billion or more in funding.
The new system is built to comply with industry standards for data ingest, equipment control and data export functions.
