Internet connectionMcAfee and Verizon will expand their partnership to offer a new security platform designed to protect multiple Internet-enabled devices from malicious intrusion.

The McAfee-powered Internet Security Suite Multi-Device platform is built for residential and business subscribers of Verizon’s FiOS service, the companies said Monday.

The product works to keep malware off customers’ laptops, computers, tablets and smartphones and to safeguard personal information against unsafe websites and applications.

“With the number of devices in households and small businesses on the rise, coupled with the steady rise of identity theft and other cybercrime, easily accessible cross-device security is vital to maintaining a worry-free computing environment,” said John Giamatteo, senior vice president and general manager for McAfee’s consumer business.

“Through our agreement with Verizon we have a tremendous opportunity to work together to help millions of people protect their devices, data and identities, wherever they are,” Giamatteo added.

Verizon and McAfee also intend for the central management console offering to help users create strong online passwords and secure mobile banking transactions.
