IBM has released a virtualization platform for communication networks that is intended to help communications services providers use cloud computing and to integrate their applications with mobile services.
The IBM System z Solution for Mobile Computing is intended to address concerns surrounding network traffic, as well as to utilize existing data and transactions in IBM mainframes for the creation of new client services, the company said Friday.
IBMhas also updated the Flex System portfolio with a negative 48 volt DC capacity, aiming to meet the power requirements of telecommunications companies.
These new offerings are scheduled to be demonstrated at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week.
