big data2IBM and SAS have partnered with Warwick Business School to develop course modules for a master’s program in business analytics centered on big data mining and analytics technology, Computerworld UK reported Wednesday.

Antony Savvas writes the school’s operational research and management science group has collaborated with IBM on the Analytics in Practice module and with SAS on the Text Analytics module.

“Data mining skills are something that more and more companies are looking for from graduates and these two modules offer students cutting edge technology to learn the latest techniques,” said Arne Strauss, assistant professor of operational research, according to the report.

The IBM module is intended to explore big data tools such as BigSheets and SPSS Modeller, as well as case studies of their real-world applications, Savvas reports.

The SAS module is designed to discuss the Text Miner tool, predictive models and techniques for discovering patterns and topical clusters with a large document collection.

An open day for application to the course is scheduled for March 19.
