Accenture Federal Services and the Government Business Council have jointly surveyed federal executives to evaluate their views and experiences on their agencies’ cloud implementation.
The “The Road Ahead: 3 Years After Cloud First†report indicates that agencies face staffing and procurement processes amid increasing deployment of cloud services, Accenture said Thursday.
“While there are initial challenges in the adoption of cloud computing, it holds the potential to play a major role in increasing government efficiency and service delivery,†said Annette Rippert, managing director of technology services at Accenture.
At least two-thirds of federal executives cited lack of skilled staff to implement their agencies’ cloud strategies and 45 percent said their cloud staff needs training.
The survey shows that 30 percent of federal agencies have executed their cloud strategies and 4 percent of those agencies are developing new cloud platforms, while 10 percent are consolidating existing and new systems.
Federal executives cited data security and expanded storage capacity as among potential benefits of cloud, the survey said.
