A consortium composed of Unisys Brazil, Agora Telecom, Comtex and Modulo has been chosen to serve as the information technology provider for the 12 cities in Brazil that will host the 2014 World Cup.
The Brazil Seguro Consortium was awarded the $110 million contract by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice’s Extraordinary Security Department for Large Scale Events, Unisys announced Monday.
Under the contract, the consortium will provide IT systems, services and command control centers for soccer stadiums in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, BrasÃlia, Cuiabá, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Natal, Porto Alegre, Recife and Salvador.
“We are thrilled to be part of this project which is of great importance for Brazil’s public safety, both during and after the event, and will be watched by sports fans around the globe,” said Agostinho Rocha, Unisys vice president of technology consulting and integration solutions of Latin America and Unisys Brazil managing director.
Unisys and the other companies will also set-up a back-up data center in Brasilia.
