Turner Construction Co. is continuing its educational program for the youth of Baltimore, Md., including ongoing classes concerning the construction industry.
As a part of the Youthforce 2020 program, the company’s community affairs director, Dexter Hendricks, meets with  City Springs Elementary and Middle School students once a month, according to a Baltimore Curriculum Project blog post Thursday.
Hendricks and the students talk about topics such as construction project cost estimation, green building and design, project management and building information modeling since the program launched in October 2013.
Youthforce 2020 was established as a company-wide program in 1989 and expanded to the entire Baltimore area in 2006.
The program was intended to expose and encourage minority students to pursue further studies in civil, mechanical engineering, electrical, construction management or architecture.
As part of the City Springs project, students will visit a construction site and complete a theoretical construction project in teams.
