Serco has received a two-year contract extension worth approximately $100 million from the Public Works and Government Services Canada to resume non-military maintenance and operations work for a Canadian base in Central Labrador.
The company will provide on-site support at the Goose Bay, Canada-based 5th Wing Canadian Forces Base until March 2016, Serco said Thursday.
“Working with the Department of National Defence, Serco has provided site support services at Goose Bay for more than 15 years, said Paul Dalglish, vice president of Canadian operations at Serco.
“We’re excited to continue our work on behalf of the Canadian government and to remain a viable part of the local Goose Bay community,” Dalglish added.
Serco will provide aviation and logistics work such as ice and snow removal, air traffic control, warehouse management and hazardous waste and material control.
The company will also supply administration services including information technology support, water treatment, engineering, security, food and janitorial services and grounds maintenance.
The base covers a 130,000 sq. km. training area, two 10,000 foot runways and more than 200 buildings covering about 275,00 sq. meters.
