Raytheon logo_EbizRaytheon has awarded Octagon Systems a contract to supply rugged computers for installation onboard the U.S. Navy‘s amphibious warfare ships, Military & Aerospace Electronics reported Friday.

John Keller writes Raytheon’s integrated defense systems business will integrate the Octagon computing platform with all San Antonio-class vessels, including the USS Somerset, for the Navy.

Octagon computers use an open architecture, a mobile power supply technology and Intel‘s Atom N270 microprocessor, according to Keller’s report.

The San Antonio class of warships is built to transport and land helicopters and other vehicles carrying military supplies and troops.
