QinetiQ North America has won a $12 million contract to develop mapping and prediction models for the Naval Research Laboratory‘s oceanography programs.
QNA will build ocean modeling, remote sensing and physical oceanography systems under the three-year contract, QNAÂ said Wednesday.
“We have over 25 years of expertise in ocean modeling and related support, and we appreciate the opportunity to help NRL achieve mission success,†said Dave Shrum, executive vice president and general manager for defense services at QNA.
QinetiQ will continue to engineer the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model prediction system for situational awareness and ocean environment prediction capabilities and develop the HYCOM 20-Year Reanalysis Project for gaining historical ocean records from 1992 to the present.
The company will also work to predict Arctic ice parameters, enhance in-space measurement of sea surface temperature and run high resolution warfare exercises and satellite calibration models.
