Northrop Helps Cal Poly Open New Cyber Lab; Wes Bush Comments

Northrop Grumman has donated approximately $150,000 to California Polytechnic for electronic infrastructure at the school’s new cybersecurity, Mustang News reported Friday.

Samantha Sullivan writes that Northrop CEO Wes Bush attended the launch of the new lab along with Cal Poly President Jeffrey Armstrong and other executives from McAfee and Raytheon.

The Cal Poly-Northrop Grumman Cyber Lab was built to keep up with the evolving technologies related to cybersecurity, according to the report.

“We’ve all seen what’s been happening to some companies whose networks have been infiltrated, whether consumer data has been taken or the networks themselves have been damaged in some way,” Bush said, according to Mustang News.

“So cyber security also means keeping those safe, so that economic security can be protected as well,” he added.

Cal Poly close to $200,000 on renovations to the space for the lab.

Armstrong said that the lab will provide the students access to network security, cyber defense, attack, visualization and research and development.
