Motorola Solutions has purchased software communications company Twisted Pair Solutions for an undisclosed amount in an effort to grow push-to-talk over broadband offerings.
Twisted Pair will become a subsidiary of Motorola Solutions and be a part of the latter company’s government solutions business, the companies said Thursday.
“We recognize that our customers have multiple communications technology options for connecting land mobile radios, wireless broadband networks and smart devices,” said Bob Schassler, senior vice president for government solutions at Motorola.
Seattle-based Twisted Pair developed the WAVE platform, a communications application designed to consolidate voice, location, text messaging for interoperability with smartphones, PCs, tablets as well as land mobile radios and other communication equipment.
“The acquisition of Twisted Pair enables Motorola Solutions to address all of those choices and accelerate push-to-talk expansion across multiple technologies,” Schassler said.
