Lockheed Martin has completed assembly and integration work on a communications satellite of the U.S. Navy ahead of initial system testing.
The fifth Mobile User Objective Systems satellite sits on a Lockheed-built A2100 bus and a system module developed by General Dynamics, Lockheed said Monday.
“Compared to our last build, we are approximately 20 percent ahead of schedule,†said Iris Bombelyn, vice president of narrowband communications at Lockheed.
This new satellite contains multi-beam assembly antennas that work to help cover thousands of miles of terrain on Earth.
