Exelis will build voice communications radios for installation on the U.S. Army’s Blackhawk and Chinook helicopters under a $10.9 million contract awarded by the Defense Logistics Agency.
The ARC-201D airborne radio system is designed with networking and anti-jamming systems, Exelis said Thursday.
Nick Bobay, president of Exelis’ night vision and communications services division, said the radio technology would be integrated into the Army’s battlefield network for ground troops to communicate in a secure environment.
Exelis will produce the radios at its Fort Wayne, Ind.-based facility.
