Capstone Turbine has received four orders from the Marcellus and Utica Shale regions for microturbines designed for oil and gas operations.
Capstone’s oil and gas distributor E-Finity Distributed Generation obtained orders from two new and two existing clients amounting to 6.4 megawatts of power, Capstone said Thursday.
Darren Jamison, president and CEO of Capstone, said the microturbines are designed to provide low-emission power for North American shale gas producers.
One order from a current client is intended to help expand a Pennsylvania-based gas transmission facility by using Capstone’s C800 power package and heat recovery system, which is designed to produce about four million British thermal units of hot water.
The second order is from a West Virginia and Pennsylvania-based E&P and transmission firm, another existing customer of E-finity, for several C1000 power packages.
A West Virginia-based midstream company and a new client of the business ordered a C800 low emission power package to serve as one of the power sources for a new compression plant, aiming to meet goals of lower site emissions and power production increases.
Details on the other new customer were not disclosed.
