BAE Systems has been awarded a $4.5 million contract to help the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency develop a sensor that would dissolve on command when the device’s work is done.
DARPA is seeking to acquire commercial transient electronics for use in the battlefield through its Vanishing Programmable Resources program, according to a Thursday FedBizOpps post.
The agency selected BAE to design a self-dissolving technology capable of sensing biomedical and environmental conditions and communicating with remote users, the award notice says.
BAE was also called upon to build a sensor with radio frequency links that designed to handle real-time configurations.
