BAE Systems Detica has outlined five priorities for businesses to combat cyber threats in 2014.
Organizations must counter the rise of cyber and financial crime, focus on intelligence-driven security, handle cyber sabotage, respond to mobile threats and address identity crime, BAE Systems said Tuesday.
“The most cutting-edge financial crime as we move into 2014 will be cyber enabled financial fraud,†said Martin Sutherland, managing director of BAE Systems Detica.
BAE Systems Detica predicts an increase in cyber sabotage in 2014 as criminals seek to attack organizations and nations’ critical infrastructures.
Hackers will also target the operation of power utilities, water treatment and manufacturing plants, BAE Systems says.
The company expects identity-based crimes to drive payments and card fraud where attackers steal identities to compromise financial services.
“In 2014, successful organisations will halt major attacks by joining up their understanding of cyber attacks and fraud,†said Sutherland.
