The CH2M HILL Foundation has awarded a $50,000 grant to the Social Mobility Foundation to develop sustainable communities that are intended to encourage social and environmental responsibility.
SMF was selected for its work in helping youths from low-income backgrounds find careers in engineering, business, law and politics, CH2M HILL said Wednesday.
“Importantly the partnership will not simply provide financial investment but enable us to utilise the skills of CH2M HILL employees who will act as mentors and work placement hosts for young people who would never otherwise get such opportunities,” said David Johnson, SMF CEO.
The grant will be used to provide one-on-one mentoring for students and professionals, provide a free structured one-week onsite work placement at the site’s London office for up to 25 students and offer networking, resume writing and interview skills workshops.
