centurylink_logo-320x320CenturyLink has partnered with Idaho’s Education Department to award $50,000 in grants to teachers for technology projects, Today“™s 6 News reported Tuesday.

James Cramer quoted Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna as saying CenturyLink has helped the department purchase laptops and video equipment with more than $650,000 in grants over the last 10 years.

That money was used to fund projects aimed at helping students develop video textbooks and robots, according to the report.

Jim Schmit, CenturyLink Idaho vice president and general manager, told Today“™s 6 News the company intends to identify teachers that use technology in classrooms and provide them with financial assistance meant for project expansion.

Application for the grants will close on Jan. 10, 2014 and the awards will be released in April 2014.
