SurveillanceCamsCRGT and Signal Electronics will collaborate to design and implement a surveillance system for the seaport community of Freeport, Texas.

The team received a $600,000 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency through a maritime domain awareness infrastructure program, CRGT said Tuesday.

Freeport’s police department uses CRGT security technology to monitor criminal activity.

The system uses cameras and software designed to automatically read vehicle registration plates for law enforcement, CRGT says.

Other regional municipalities are considering the system for their law enforcement initiatives, according to the company.
