BMC Software Inc. has acquired software firm Partnerpedia for an undisclosed amount in an effort to help secure application hubs for customers, PCWorld reported Monday.
Chris Kanaracus writes BMC will integrate its information technology service portal MyIT with Partnerpedia“™s AppZone software that companies use to manage the app store access of end users.
Geoff Mair, BMC“™s senior director of product development and Partnerpedia founder, told the publication the AppZone is intended to provide employees with the necessary applications and help IT departments oversee how workers download and use those apps.
Mair also told PCWorld IT personnel can buy apps in bulk through Partnerpedia“™s software, which works to transfer purchased apps to a customer“™s private catalog.
BMC also intends for AppZone to shorten the time it takes for employees to search the apps they need, Mair says.
