Accenture has accorded Local Initiatives Support Corp. a grant worth $350,000 to provide career and workplace skills training to about 27,000 low-income people.
The grant will allow LISC to expand its Occupational Skills Pilot Initiative designed to equip local residents aptitude in healthcare and information technology using Accenture-developed curriculum, the company announced Tuesday.
The training sessions held at various LISC Financial Opportunity Centers also provide financial advice, employment counseling and public benefits access.
In conjunction to the Accenture-funded program, LISC also runs the Skills to Succeed initiative that aims to help 500,000 people get a job or build a business by 2015.
