Iron Mountain has rolled out a suite of data center services for networking, asset disposition, tape handling and data migration for enterprise and government customers.
The company is renting out space in its underground storage facility in Boyers, Pa., that offers both wholesale and retail colocation services, Iron Mountain said.
Mark Kidd, senior vice president and general manager of data centers, said the company is packaging services that work to help enterprises outsource data center management functions.
“We want to make it easier for enterprises to outsource,” he said.
The Boyers data center is located 220 feet below ground level in a former limestone mine and designed with a geothermal cooling system that works to protect against severe weather conditions.
Hotel group Mariott International leases 12,500 square feet of space in the Iron Mountain facility with the aim of reducing recovery time in case of an information technology disaster.
