Motorola Solutions“™ wireless network security and infrastructure management solution has earned Defense Information Systems Agency certification.
AirDefense Services Platform v9.0 made the Unified Capabilities-Approved Product List, which means the product meets Defense Department interoperability and security protocols, Motorola said Wednesday.
AirDefense is designed to protect wireless networks from attacks from rogue devices using an intrusion detection and identification system.
“Until recently, the Department of Defense deployed wireless intrusion detection solutions simply to enforce policies that prohibited devices from being used at their facilities,“ said Paul Mueller, vice president for the U.S. federal government markets division at Motorola Solutions.
“But with the introduction of smartphones and tablets as approved equipment, Defense Department agencies now can use AirDefense“™s security features to permit only authorized users with access to their wireless enterprise networks, and to manage and control their devices over-the-air.“
Motorola said several AirDefense users include the U.S. Army, Navy and Marine Corps, and several other intelligence organizations.
