BAE Systems and United Technologies Corp. have jointly tested a naval weapon system that uses a guided missile designed to hit targets from at least 62 miles.
The companies aimed to assess the accuracy of the Multi-Service Standard Guided Projectile when launched using an Mk 45 Mod 4 gun, BAE said Wednesday.
During the test, the projectile reached a maximum range of around 23.6 miles.
BAE and UTC will fire the projectile from an M777 towed howitzer later this summer for another test.
