att logoAT&T has donated $5,000 in grants for the Altru Health Foundation“™s literacy program, which aims to promote home reading and learning among children.

The foundation intends to buy books for children who visit the pediatric department, Family Medicine Residency and East Grand Forks Migrant School in Grand Forks, N.D., AT&T said Monday.

Cheryl Riley, director of AT&T North Dakota“™s external affairs, said the company supports the foundation“™s Reach Out and Read program to improve education and build up communities.

The foundation aims to help encourage children to read at home through the initiative, the company says.

“This is an important issue for all of our children and their families, and we’re delighted that a company like AT&T supports literacy and the Reach Out and Read program,” said Jon Green, executive director of Altru Health Foundation.
