Parsons Corp. has won an award from a veteran small business advocacy group for exceeding a congressional goal to award three percent of contracts to service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses.
The National Veteran Small Business Coalition selected Parsons for awarding 4.4 percent of its contracts to SDVOSB businesses during fiscal year 2012, Parsons said Wednesday.
Overall, the company awarded $163 million in subcontracts to small businesses during fiscal 2012, representing 62 percent of total subcontracting dollars for the year.
“We are proud of our record in this area and will continue to make opportunities available for small businesses to participate in our government programs through mentoring, outreach, and other initiatives,” said Mary Ann Hopkins, group president of government services.
Parsons will receive the award at the Veteran Entrepreneur Training Symposium on June 11 in Reno, Nev.
