Microsoft has received two Spirit of America Summit awards from United Way Worldwide for creating volunteering opportunities and achieving community impact.
The company $1 billion mark last year in employee giving and matching gifts to over 31,000 nonprofit organizations worldwide since it launched the giving program in 1983, Microsoft said Thursday.
Microsoft donates $17 per hour to match employees“™ volunteer work and has already generated more than $34 million in matching funds.
“Microsoft is not just a world leader in technology solutions, but also in citizenship, volunteering and creating opportunities for youth,” said Brian Gallagher, United Way Worldwide’s president and CEO.
“Microsoft and United Way are working together to help more young people graduate on time with the skills they need to be successful in life,” he added.
