A General Dynamics division has released an optional update to a stabilized camera system, intending to help film directors record data in separate storage systems and transfer video files for post-production editing.
The Data+ upgrade aims to form layers of metadata onto Super 35 Format video for cinematographers to direct computer-generated images to the camera’s angle, the company said Tuesday.
General Dynamics’ global imaging technologies division built the upgrade for its Cineflex ELITE camera system to have data on azimuth, elevation, lens focus, iris zoom and timestamp.
Bob McGill, vice president and general manager of global imaging technologies, said the company designed the upgrade as many feature films include computer generated images.
The company also intends for users to control airborne cameras from a remote location.
General Dynamics will demonstrate Cineflex at the NAB Show this year, including the camera system and Cineflex HiDef.
