Ross Wilkers
John Thomas will serve as executive vice president of strategic development at Leidos, the planned national security, health and engineering-focused business that will separate from Science Applications International Corp.
Thomas has previously served as acting president of the national security sector, also slated to be part of Leidos, and as senior VP and general manager of the intelligence systems business unit.
The intelligence systems unit provides engineering and software development focused on intelligence and information systems and mission-critical information technology including biometrics and electronic security systems. Its customers include the intelligence community, military commands and other government agencies.
During his time at the company, the 33-year Army veteran has implemented strategic planning and resource alignment in an attempt to expand the corporation“™s capabilities in systems solutions development and integration capabilities.
When he joined SAIC, Thomas served as the director of army intelligence programs where he was responsible for developing and implementing a strategy for increasing SAIC“™s position in the market. He was then appointed as the GM of the operations intelligence and security business unit where, under his leadership, the organization more than tripled in size.
Prior to joining SAIC, he served as an active duty Army intelligence officer retiring as a Major General. He commanded the two of the largest intelligence organizations in the Army“”the Army Intelligence Center at Ft. Huachuca and the Intelligence and Security Command at Ft. Belvoir.
During his career, he also served as the Associate Deputy Director of the National Security Agency and Deputy Chief of the Central Security Service.
Thomas holds a bachelor“™s degree from Wilkes University and a master“™s degree from the University of Southern California. He also graduated from the National War College, the Advanced Management Program of the University of Chicago, the Center for Creative Leadership, and the Harvard University Program for Senior Executives in National and International Security.
