
Red Hat has taken on a leadership role to manage a Java open source implementation project, aiming to continue supporting the technology and its users.
The company is aiming to help steer the development of the OpenJDK 6 project and Andrew Haley, Red Hat Java technical lead, will stay on as a OpenJDK 6 board member to help grow the Java community, Red Hat said Thursday.

Red Hat seeks to carry forward Java“™s role in banking, retail, transportation and research organizations that run OpenJDK 6 and Java SE 6, said Craig Muzilla, Red Hat vice president and general manager for middleware.
According ot the release, source code repository site GitHub says Java is one of the highest-tagged languages on Stack Overflow, a user-controlled question and answer site for programming subjects.
Red Hat said it wants to help grow Java as a platform for enterprise applications.
