IBM has delivered computing technology to a Nigeria-based private bank, aiming to help the bank restructure its service delivery operations.
Keystone Bank purchased the IBM Power 795 and Power 770 enterprise-class servers, as well as the System Storage DS8800, IBM said Wednesday.
The servers are intended to help the bank manage its banking, database and information management applications as the system storage fulfills its data and storage requirements, according to IBM.
IBM says the technology systems have lowered Keystone Bank’s operating costs by 60 percent, have helped reduce customer transaction times from between seven and eight hours to less than three hours every day.
“Banking and technology have become inseparable,“ said Taiwo Otiti, IBM general manager for West Africa.
“No financial institution can survive today“™s harsh market conditions without a robust technology platform,“ he added.
The servers run IBM’s AIX operating system, PowerVM virtualization technology and PowerHA software for disaster recovery.
IBM business partner Net Solutions Ltd facilitated the negotiations.
