Harris Corp. will provide transport system maker INIT Innovations in Transportation Inc. with a communication system as that company helps the city of Montreal manage its transit system.
INIT won a contract to install the system as it works to help the Societe de Transport de Montreal manage more than 1.2 million trips daily over bus, taxibus and paratransit services, Harris said Thursday.
Harris’ Project 25 system is intended to provide STM with 2,000 mobile radios.
More than 80 Harris employees work with customers in the Quebec province, including in cities such as Quebec City, Laval, Longueuil and Sherbrooke.
“Harris is proud to collaborate with a leading partner like INIT on this important project and continue our long-standing relationship with STM,“ said Steve Marschilok, Harris president of public safety and professional communications.
