Jeanette Horan, vice president and chief technology officer at IBM, has been named to an information technology think tank’s list of CIOs that helped spur innovation and transformation at their companies.

IBM said HMG Strategy recognized Horan for advancing innovation in the company and helping sustain IBM’s technology footprint in growing market segments.

Horan helped the company carry out an online brainstorming session aimed at developing ways IBM could become a social business and the company said employees contributed thousands of ideas.

Her organization also runs the company’s technology adoption program, a virtual lab for employees to experiment with and build IT products.

She oversees worldwide IT infrastructure and applying new technology for big data and computing in cloud, mobile and social environments.

IBM also runs a private analytics cloud, named Blue Insight, that manages more than a petabyte of data.

Nearly 200,000 employees use Blue Insight to perform analytics on skills evaluation, sales forecasts and marketing outreach, the company said.
