General Dynamics will hire more than 200 people to staff its Mississippi call center that handles federal aid applications from students.
The company will start hiring 225 workers by the summer and aim to hire up to 250 people by year’s end to answer questions from students applying for federal aid, the Washington Post reports.
Based in Hattiesburg, the call center sits on a 17,500 square-foot area and will be one of five facilities General Dynamics operates that also responds to inquiries about federal programs, company spokesman Mark Meudt said.
Mississippi’s Development Authority will grant $150,000to General Dynamics and the company“™s information technology unit will start operating the call center by April.
The center will qualify for state and local tax breaks and job training subsidies, according to the report.
