Carahsoft Technology Corp. and and Ciena Corp. will partner to bring data center consolidation, cloud computing and high-speed enterprise networking to the federal government, according to a joint statement.

“Through this partnership, federal agencies will have a streamlined contract process and be better positioned to tackle some of their toughest networking challenges by leveraging Ciena“™s industry-leading packet and optical networking solutions,“ said David Peed, vice president and general manager of Ciena Government Solutions.

Carahsoft will serve as Ciena“™s master U.S. General Services Administration schedule holder to help Ciena“™s BizConnect partners sell to the U.S. government through streamlined operations and a single point of contact for maintenance contracts and renewals.

Carahsoft will provide contract management support for Ciena“™s expanding ecosystem of public sector channel partners, resellers andciena_logo integrators.

“We are pleased to expand our portfolio with Ciena“™s products and services, which are excellent complements to our existing virtualization, big data, and cloud computing offerings,“ said Carahsoft president Craig P. Abod.

This effort is meant to help government agencies reduce network costs and enable a shift toward assured and efficient high-performance networking platforms.
