A Boeing subsidiary has unveiled a new a tool aimed at helping wireless carriers assess cellular network assessment and identify areas for potential upgrades.
Digital Receiver Technology built pocket-sized DRT4311B to scan between 2G, 3G and 4G networks with a wireless control application, Boeing said Tuesday.
DRT unveiled the new tool at the 2013 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Stephen Mazzo, DRT president, said the system contains a software-defined radio architecture and wideband receiver intended for operators to measure multiple frequency bands.
Operators use the same device and not change hardware when measuring, he said.
The unit’s wireless control application aims to be compatible with any Android device, according to Boeing.
