ipkeySmart grid communications provider IPKeys Technologies and Connexx Energy, an automation and energy management technology developer, are partnering to build a smart grid driver.

IPKeys said the companies are aiming to develop a scalable and secure end-to-end AutoDR offering with the goal of supporting facility-grid relationships.

Robert Nawy, IPKeys managing director and chief financial officer, said the companies want to help facilities receive and respond to open-standard and machine-interoperable market signals.

The new offering will combine IPKeys“™ OpenADR 2.0a certified EISSClient technology with Connexx“™s Niagara® driver platform.

The companies will market and make the new driver available to Connexx’s energy partner channel, OEM customers, Lynxspring“™s business partner channel and users of the Niagra framework.  connexx

“With rising and unpredictable energy costs, it makes good economic sense to operate and maintain your building as efficiently as possible and take advantage of programs that OpenADR 2.0 offers,” said Marc Petock, vice president of marketing at Connexx Energy.

Petock said the companies also wanted to provide facilities a driver that did not commit them to acquiring a proprietary technology.

Both companies will demonstrate the technology at Distributech 2013 and AHR Expo 2013.
