General Dynamics and an Israeli defense contractor are partnering to produce weapons stations soldiers will control while stationed inside a vehicle.
General Dynamics said RAFAEL Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. will offer customers four versions of the Samson Remote Weapons Stations line, which support 5.56 millimeter and .50 caliber machine guns, 40-milimeter grenade launchers and cannons up to 40 millimeters.
The companies are partnering to support existing vehicle modernization and next-generation ground combat and amphibious vehicle programs, said Steve Elgin, vice president and general manager of armament systems for General Dynamics’ armament and technical products.
In 2003, the companies formed the GR Dynamics joint venture to provide armament products to the Defense Department, including the MK49 MOD 0 naval remote weapon station.
